Tim
Hawes began his professional career at the age of 18 when he took
his first position with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon. Upon his
return to the UK Tim embarked on a successful, freelance career that
has been remarkable in its diversity and quality.
Chris
Houlding was appointed Principal Trombone of the Orchestra of Opera
North, Britain's newest and most innovative opera company, when he
was 21. Since then he has appeared as Guest Principal with most major
UK ensembles.
John
Kenny was born in 1957 in Birmingham. Internationally recognised
for his interpretation of contemporary music, he also performs jazz
and early music. As a composer, he is particularly active in collaborations
with dance and theatre, and this love of theatre is often an important
feature of his recital output.
Dave
Stewart is quite simply the most successful bass trombone player
of his generation. His career spans the finest ensembles in each of
the many genres in which he excels. Dave won the Shell-LSO Music Scholarship
(Gold medal) in 1983, whilst a student at Guildhall School of Music
and Drama.
Jiggs
Whigham is an internationally acclaimed trombonist, band leader
and educator. This versatile performer, born Oliver Haydn Whigham III
(the nickname Jiggs was given by his grandfather) in Cleveland Ohio
on 20 August 1943, first came to the attention of critics and fans
at 17, as featured soloist and first trombonist with the Glenn Miller
Orchestra, directed by Ray McKinley.
