Dave
Stewart is quite simply the most successful bass trombone player of his
generation. His career spans the finest ensembles in each of the many genres
in which he excels. Dave won the Shell-LSO Music Scholarship (Gold medal)
in 1983, whilst a student at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
After graduation a glittering freelance career saw Dave become the player of choice in every possible musical environment. He has regularly performed with all the major British orchestras, held chairs in West End musical theatre productions and toured or recorded with almost every visiting artist of note.
A brief tour of his work includes: Quincy Jones, Kenny Wheeler, Michael Nyman Band, John Harle Band. .London Sinfonietta, Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, London Brass, Wallace Collection, His Majesties Sagbutts and Cornetts, Orchestre Revolutionaire et Romantique, Natalie Cole, Liza Minnelli, Shirley Bassey, Johnny Mathis, Robbie Williams, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell, Texas, Daniel Bedingfield, Chris Rea, Pet Shop Boys alongside film soundtracks and television appearances.
Dave was appointed as Principal Bass Trombone with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1999 and alongside his performing career is in great demand as an educator and teacher having given classes across the globe.
